Belle Haven is a neighborhood that is on the ocean or a tidally influenced river. Many times, such places have amenities that bring locals and visitors to the waterfront for recreational activities or to check out the scenery. Many locals and visitors come to stay or dine at the Delamar Hotel or happen to be member of the Indian Harbor Club In addition to being coastal, Belle Haven is a very nautical neighborhood, meaning that it is somewhat historic, walkable, densely populated and on the water. This gives the neighborhood a very nautical feel, with some seaside and shipping feel, which makes for a warm and inviting feel. The homes are also noticeably large in this neighborhood, primarily 4-5 bedrooms making a strong photographic statement.
The greatest number of commuters in Belle Haven neighborhood spend under 15 minutes commuting one-way to work (34.1% of working residents), one of the shortest commutes across America. However, there is also a significant group of residents (23.6%) who commute over an hour in each direction.
Here most residents (59.6%) drive alone in a private automobile to get to work. In addition, quite a number also take the train to get to work (17.8%). In a neighborhood like this, as in most of the nation, many residents find owning a car useful for getting to work.
