THING 30 - Support another Greenwich Resident, buy a book
When I first started this blog I figured that I would play it by ear to come up with 365 things to do in Greenwich. My initial intentions were to focus on activities and establishments (stores, restaurants, museums, parks, etc...) as there are more than enough to talk about. I did not think about focusing on Greenwich residents and their accomplishments until I came upon Rob Mathes. Rob, as you are probably aware, was born in Old Greenwich and has gone on to become a well known record producer, songwriter and composer. I wrote about him a little while ago when he was putting on a show. Today, I have another Greenwich resident to talk about.
Meaghan Nolan van Reesema and I grew up going to school together. She was always extremely driven and at the top of our class. It is no surprise that she has succeeded in doing what she wanted to do. Meaghan has chosen to become an author and freelance travel writer (www.wherenextwithmeg.com) touring the world. I am thrilled to add one of her accomplishments (as well as an event celebrating it) to my list. Meaghan has just released another one of her wonderful books, Caribbean Hideaways.
As you can see by the quality of her work, Meaghan takes her travels very seriously. In her books, she focuses on unique hotels and villas that all have something worthy of writing about. Meaghan isn't your average traveler/tourist looking for some neat locations; Meaghan does her research to make sure everything she writes about deserves a little showing off. Her Greenwich teachers would be proud.
So for today, I recommend buying Meaghan's book, sitting back on this rainy muggy day and picturing yourself in an infinity pool with a Southside. This coming Saturday (at Hoaglands from 2 to 4pm) you'll have the opportunity to have Meaghan sign your book and possibly ask her all about the villas you now plan on visiting.
