As you'll find out over the course of the season, I'm a fairly big Rangers fan. I grew up playing hockey at school and the Greenwich Skating Club. There's nothing like waking up at 5am for practice before school. Mom - if you are reading this - I am forever in debt to you for all of those rides. Soccer moms have nothing on hockey moms. I rooted for the rangers as a kid a fair bit, but the bug didn't really catch until I moved away (college, business school, etc.) . It was always a sense of pride to identify myself with the New York teams. Maybe I felt that hockey players were tough, maybe I felt that New Yorkers were tough, maybe I had grown up in Greenwich and needed to add some toughness to my resume (good luck). Regardless, I have had a great time following the Rangers and explaining to people that Greenwich is a suburb of Manhattan and therefore residents are fans of the Rangers/Islanders, Giants/Jets, Yankees/Mets and not those stupid Boston teams. A lot of present and past Rangers own real estate/live in Greenwich, CT.
Unfortunately I have been informed that I need to prioritize my expenses and buy diapers before I buy hockey tickets, so I won't be going to many games this year. Tonight I'll be watching the game from a TV with some friends. A bar is not a bad venue either...
