Samuel Owen Gallery offers an array of hand crafted frames imported from around the world. Many of these exquisite frames are hand carved by the same craftsmen who build frames for the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) and the Metropolitan Museum in New York. The boutique framing gallery offers an impressive collection of original frames with hand painted, hand carved, leather and gold leafed mouldings. We are committed to helping each customer tastefully match a custom frame to the work of art it will hold and to the environment where it will hang.
Specifically, the gallery will feature Dale May from December 15th through January 19th. Dale May is a NY based photographer most known for his digital manipulation as seen through his show Lego Wars. He is internationally recognized for his commercial photography, usually around specific famous characters such as Legos in his latest show. A photographic study of popular culture combined with commercial branding and a bit of nostalgia, May revisits the tiny plastic Lego toys of his childhood and photographs them to stand tall and demand attention.
These prints are crafted in archival acrylic to give the work a high-polished glossiness reminiscent of the Lego pieces themselves. The show is extremely chic, just take at look at the images below:
